Our very important fall fund-raising season has begun.
The Hand to Heart Project is at a point of celebration, of potential, and of a little uncertainty.
This year, we surpassed fifteen years of providing our service to people with cancer and their
families. If you have been a supporter for all or most of that time, it might surprise you as much
as it does us that all of that time has gone by since our first home visit with a client in the
summer of 2007. That’s worth celebrating. We currently have more people on our active client
list than we saw in all of our first year – maybe two years. More than a dozen massage
therapists are now available to people in about 110 towns, so we expect to continue growing.
That feels like unlimited potential.
The uncertainty is this: While we have managed this growth thanks to great support in recent
years – from individual donors and from very generous foundations – we need to increase the
program’s revenue so that we can continue what we have begun, and perhaps expand even
further.
You can make a meaningful difference in the lives of your family members, friends, and
community members facing the challenges of cancer. If you would like to provide the gift of
compassionate touch and support to people dealing with cancer, you can donate here on our
website, on our Facebook page, or mail a donation to PO Box 248, Cornish Flat, NH 03746.
Other ways to support our program include sharing our website and Facebook page with your
friends, creating Facebook fundraisers to benefit us, and using AmazonSmile when you shop on
Amazon (select NH-VT Palliative Services as your designated charity). Our team, along with the
clients and caregivers receiving service are so grateful for your support and generosity.
Here’s something one of our clients sent to us recently after receiving Hand to Heart’s service:
“My massage therapist is a blessing. I can’t believe how wonderful it is to experience the healing
touch of massage on my beat-up body. It truly is healing.” We get that type of reaction a lot. “I
can’t believe…,” “I wish I had started this sooner,” “When can you come back?” We want to
keep hearing that, and we would love to have your new or continuing support to help us do that.

We feel blessed to have had the Hand to Heart Project suggested to us by a friend. Our masseuse, Anna Maynard, has shown us nothing but compassion and caring not only for myself but for my caregiver. Her ability to take a tired body and make it function again is amazing. We are so thankful to have her coming to our house.
